The great big Buckshaw nursery bake off for Comic Relief

It has been a wonderfully busy (and rather messy) week at The Hub at Buckshaw. Our Upper Buckshaw children have been baking cakes to raise money for Comic Relief, and they threw themselves into every step with real enthusiasm.

Baking cakes for Comic Relief

From weighing out the ingredients to mixing, spooning and decorating, our little bakers did it all. The Upper Buckshaw room turned into a busy kitchen full of smiles, sticky fingers and plenty of proud faces, with every cake made in aid of Comic Relief.

Fundraising days like this are a lovely part of everyday learning in our nursery. Baking helps our children practise early counting and measuring, take turns and work together, and it introduces the simple, important idea that we can all help others.

Learning through play and giving back

Hands-on experiences like a bake off do so much more than fill a cake tin. They build confidence, fine motor skills and language as the children chat about what they are making, and they nurture the kindness and generosity that sit at the heart of a Comic Relief day.

This focus on rich, real-world learning is one of the many reasons families across Buckshaw Village, Chorley, Leyland, Euxton, Preston and Whittle-le-Woods choose our setting. Our nursery is rated Ofsted Outstanding across every available area and holds the Millie's Mark accreditation, so parents can feel completely confident about the care their child receives.
