What is Love to Learn?

Love to Learn is our Fun and Phonics programme, created especially for preschool children aged 2 to 5. Each session is led by love2learn teachers who make early sounds and language feel like play rather than formal lessons. Children join in with stories, songs and games, so learning happens naturally and joyfully.

The programme sits alongside everything else we offer at Buckshaw Village Nursery, complementing our wider Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Families from Buckshaw Village, Chorley, Leyland, Euxton, Preston and Whittle-le-Woods choose The Hub at Buckshaw for exactly this kind of caring, hands on early learning.

How Love to Learn works

Every Fun and Phonics session blends several playful approaches. Together they keep young children curious and engaged while they build the early listening, sound and mark making skills that lead towards reading and writing.

Story based learning

Stories bring sounds and letters to life, helping children link phonics to language they already love.

Songs and music

Catchy songs make sounds memorable, so children absorb phonics without even realising they are learning.

Movement to music

Moving to music keeps young children active and engaged while they practise listening and rhythm.

Mark making

Early mark making builds the fine motor control and letter awareness that lead towards writing.

Games

Fun, interactive games turn phonics practice into play that children want to join in with again and again.

Learning through play

Every session is playful and hands on, matching how preschool children learn best.

Who is it for?

Love to Learn is designed for preschool children aged 2 to 5 years. It fits perfectly into the years before school, when children are naturally ready to explore sounds, rhymes and early language.

There is no need for children to read or write beforehand. The sessions meet each child where they are, building confidence step by step so they feel proud of every new sound they master.
