Lower Buckshaw 1 and 2 is the toddler room at Buckshaw Village Nursery, welcoming children any time approaching their 2nd birthday. A 1 to 4 staff ratio, key worker care and play-led learning help your child grow in confidence.
Lower Buckshaw 1 and 2 is the toddler room at our Ofsted Outstanding nursery in Buckshaw Village, Chorley. Children move up any time approaching their 2nd birthday based on their readiness, cared for at a staffing ratio of one member of staff to four children within our Key Worker system.
A move up that fits your child
Every child develops at their own pace, so there is no fixed date for joining Lower Buckshaw. Children move up any time approaching their 2nd birthday based on their individual readiness. In practice this means a move can happen before, at, or up to 3 months after their birthday, whenever space permits, so the transition feels natural rather than rushed.

The Lower Buckshaw room follows the Early Years Framework and our Key Worker system, so play is purposeful as well as fun. Toddlers develop key skills such as turn-taking and enjoy social mealtimes that build confidence and independence at the table.
The environment is both structured and flexible, combining indoor and outdoor activities so children can move, explore and rest as they need to throughout the day.

The 2 year progress check
Around your child's 2nd birthday, our practitioners carry out a progress check to review how they are getting on. You receive a written summary that covers development in the prime areas, the areas where your child is making progress, and any developmental concerns that may need extra support.

More than a nursery room
Because Lower Buckshaw sits within The Hub, children enjoy far more than a single room. Supplementary programmes include Little Kickers, Love to Learn and swimming lessons, giving toddlers plenty of chances to be active and try new things.
